Education Structure in New Zealand

New-Zealand is fast emerging as one of the appropriate places to gain higher education for international students.  In the last five years, New Zealand has made paramount progress in education field and emerged as one of the most selective places among students. Students from different countries of the world apply in various Universities in New Zealand and there has been an increase in the number of international students coming to New Zealand every year. It is now a thing of the past, when a large number of students used to fly to US or UK for higher education. New-Zealand has always been popular world- wide for its scenic beauty, rich lifestyle and culture diversity, now education is also added to it. Colleges in New-Zealand lure a large number of international students and offer a plethora of courses like- hotel management, journalism, MBA, Medical etc. New Zealand has a developed economy and the infra-structure of the country is also high. Therefore, the standard and quality of education is world-class, the country is also considered one of the safest countries in the world in terms of security. This also attracts a lot of student crowd towards it. New Zealand government offers a wide range of polytechnic and vocational courses which mostly last for one year. Tourism, Hospitality, Nursing and IT (Information Technology) are some of the most opted polytechnic courses. Unlike USA, a Bachelor degree in New Zealand lasts for three years. For Honors degree you are required to spend an additional year in research at university.  Students who want to do PhD from New-Zealand should have either a Master Degree or Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in their subject.

New-Zealand is an English speaking country so the medium of teaching in New-Zealand   is English. Students who want to seek admission in the universities of New-Zealand must prove their English language aptitude.  They have to appear for TOEFL (Test of English Language as Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System).  All reputed Universities and Colleges in New Zealand count your TOEFL/IELTS scores before giving you admission.
