How PGDBM is better than MBA

Number of graduate students in India has a common aim in there minds of getting admission in top notch b-schools for master’s course to give the best start to there career. The biggest dilemma under which the students are is which course is going to suit them the most MBA or PGDBM. It is advised that before coming to any conclusion it is necessary for every student to understand the basic differences between these courses are and how important is there role in shaping their career.

The first question arises is what is the basic deference between the two. According to All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) any full time post graduation programs which is not recognized by any university and offered by autonomous institutes is referred as PGDM or Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management. This makes it clear that only those two year post graduation programs which are offered by recognized universities known as Masters in Business Administration Program. This clarifies the basic deference between two. Many students are in illusion that since PGDBM is not recognized by any university therefore it’s not equivalent to MBA. A few students also believe that the career options after PGDBM are very limited as compared to MBA. Experts from the industry and the faculty members of various elite institutions disagree with such statements.

The next thing that comes to our mind is how PGDBM is better than MBA. Many experts from industry advice students to go for PGDBM course from top institutions rather than going for MBA course from bottom ranked Institutes. The best thing about the PGDBM course is that it syllabus is not fixed and it is changed as per the change in market trends. The faculty members designs the syllabus as per the current market trend so that students must remain updated with the current market trends and should face the challenges in there work effectively. However in case of MBA the syllabus of the course is fixed by the universities and remains same year after year and hence students face problems once they start working in the current industry environment. That is the reason for which number of students opts for PGDBM course over MBA.

There are many students who wants to do Phd. In Business Administration and they have to go for MBA course because masters degree is mandatory to get admission in Phd Program. However those students who want to do PGDBM course they can also opt for fellowship programs which are offered by various top notch institutions of our country like IIMs, Such fellowship programs are equivalent to Phd programs. Therefore students who are looking for doctoral level courses can also go for this course. The last thing that strikes in the minds of students is fee structure. The fee structure of PGDBM is comparatively lower than the fee structure of MBA programs.

These are a few of the major facts that separates PGDBM course from MBA and shows why this course should be consider better than MBA course.
